Hi and welcome! I am Emily Mitchell. I started

THE PLACE HOME

as a blog in the spring of 2013. After graduating with my Masters of Architecture from Washington U. in St. Louis ('12), I sought a creative outlet to explore and learn about the wonderful place we call home. I have always been a "homebody" which is to say I prefer the pleasure of being at home. Combining this natural inclination with my educational background and professional interest,

THE PLACE HOME

has evolved into a business in which I work with homeowners and industry professionals to make great spaces and better homes. Originally from Michigan, my husband Jeff and I officially put down roots in St. Louis by purchasing our first home in August of 2014. When not blogging or working on a client project, you can find me fixing up our 150 year old home, cooking, reading or out and about with Jeff and our dog - Booker.
