Ensemble Architecture is a Brooklyn based design firm headed up by Elizabeth Roberts. Since establishing her own firm in 1998, Roberts and her small team of architects and interior designers have been focused on bringing "the sought-after sensibility of its home borough to every project: a healthy regard for history overlaid with a clean and lively newness" (Ensemble).

Its is this mix of old and new, that - I think makes the firm's work so successful. I am especially fond of their portfolio of bathrooms...

and kitchens....

The fabric collection of Paolo Moschino for Nicholas Haslam Ltd. is what drew me in to this London based design firm. Headed by Italian born Paolo Moschino, Moschino originally worked with fellow designer Nicky Haslam before the two decided to split the firm in 1995. Haslam took the decorating business while Moschino the retail portion - lighting, furniture, antiques, textiles. Now 20 years later, Moschino has established not only a top London home furnishings company but also one of the most sought after interiors businesses.

Below are some of their textiles as well as a few of my favorite of their interiors.

S.R. Gambrel is a highly recognized New York based firm headed up by Steven Gambrel. Founded in 1996, just three years after Gambrel graduated with a degree in architecture from the University of Virginia, the firm has greatly expanded taking commercial and residential commissions around the globe. Drawing inspiration from the vernacular architecture of the particular region of a specific commission, Gambrel pays specific attention to "the importance of properly proportioned structures and details, partnered always with a carefully curated collection of vintage, antique, and custom furniture designed by Steven himself" (about).

The firm has a huge portfolio but below are more than a few examples of their work. To see more of S.R. Gambrel's work and examples of some of his much more colorful work visit their website, read Gambrel's book - Time and Place - and check out their custom lines for Waterworks and Urban Electric Co
