Estes/Twombly Architects was one of the featured design firms in Jeremiah Eck's The Distinctive Home (check out this series to read more). That being said, I never took the time to investigate their work further until today. Based in Newport, Rhode Island the firm is run by Jim Estes and Peter Twombly. The two describe their work as "quiet modernism based on traditional methods and materials, with a sensitivity to local site and climatic conditions"(Estes/Twombly). I am particularly drawn to their work for the way it seems to blend the old with the new so seamlessly. Below are a few favorites although I highly recommend checking out their website as they have a large and beautiful body of work to appreciate.

Doxey Full Size Patchwork

Hey Baby Craft Co. is a quilting and craft company in Asheville, North Carolina. All the pieces are one of a kind and made by Amanda Lanier - owner, quilter, crafter. Lanier, after working in social work for a few years, quit her job to "embark on a soul-searching mission of sorts" (Lanier). Inspired by the birth of her first nephew and family tradition, she began making quilts. She is nominated in the crafts category for Martha Stewart's 2014 American Made contest. Below are a few favorites.

I have Marisa Redondo's Etsy shop saved in my favorites for a long time. Her watercolor and oil paintings are whimsical, full of beautiful color and most often inspired by nature. I think her paintings work great as a collection and would be amazing in a kids room. Redondo lives and works in Northern California. Her Etsy shop is called River Luna
