a thanksgiving table
Emily Oster
Yesterday's accidental blog post of Apartment 34's holiday table got me dreaming about how we might host a Thanksgiving at our house. Here's the vision...I would hope for a beautiful, warm fall day so that we could eat outside in our backyard. I would plan for dinner to be served just as it was getting dark so that it wouldn't be too cold but that the fire Jeff would build would have the perfect glow and give off just enough heat. I would make a low center piece something like the one below and use a color palette of corals and greens to dress our pine picnic table. I love a mix of modern and rustic and of course a bit of something shiny on my table so I would use copper mugs which maybe would be filled with something like a hot toddy or a local micro brew. Green glassware would nicely contrast the coral linens and white plates are a must to appropriately showcase the food. For an added touch of fun and whimsy, we would roast chestnuts something I learned about while living in Italy. The food and company of course would be amazing. Everyone would stay by the fire cozy, warm and probably comatose from eating too much and I wouldn't have to do the dishes!
