martha stewart's american made contest
Emily Oster
Martha Stewart's American Made contest began in 2012 and honors makers across the USA. The nomination period started June 3rd and continues to August 29th after which the winners will be selected and awarded a free trip to NYC, a spot in the American Made market as well as $10,000 to grow their business. Creative entrepreneurs in the areas of crafts, design, food and style are honored and get to join the incredible group of past winners.
I just discovered the contest so I haven't had much time to explore this year's nominees but I was pleasantly surprised to be familiar with some of the past winners. Maura Grace Ambrose of Folk Fibers won last year - featured in this past post and as well as being the first image in the "a pin a day" series.
Also somewhat indirectly featured on THE PLACE HOME are the entrepreneurs responsible for the Wythe Hotel designed by firm WORKSTEAD featured in this past post.
Other makers that I have yet to feature on the blog but am already a big fan of are Tara de LisIo and Jonah Meyer of Sawkille Co. and Heath Carr of Shinola.
I don't want to rush through featuring this amazing set of makers so stay tuned for more dedicated posts. In the meantime, check out the contest's website and its admirable mission to recognize American makers.
