campaign furniture

Emily Oster

One of things I am always searching Craigslist and Ebay for is Campaign furniture. This particular type of furniture is very on trend at the moment although it has been around since the days of Julius Caesar. Campaign furniture was originally made for travel specifically military "campaigns". It was designed to break down into multiple pieces and be highly durable so that it could be easily packed up and carried on the march. The furniture is most typically associated with the 18th and 19th century British Army as Campaign furniture was the preferred means of luggage for military officers. Today, the most common piece of furniture of this type is the chest. Personally, I think Campaign furniture is timeless. I like its history, functionality, clean lines and of course the brass hardware. Below are a few favorites.

This talk is a little off topic for the blog but its a great one so I couldn't not share it. Its by Tina Roth Eisenberg or Swissmiss. Eisenberg is a blogger, designer, entrepreneur and all around inspiring individual. Here talk is about her path to becoming a designer and the 11 rules and values she has come to live by. Its an hour long but well worth it especially on a Monday! Click here to listen.

picking paint colors

Emily Oster

I am in Michigan for a quick trip which leaves little time for a realty round up post. I also want to do a little rethinking about the next phase of the series so make sure not to miss next Friday's realty round up post.

Today, I want to share a series on REMODELISTA/GARDENISTA. The series provides architects/designers picks for paint colors. Anyone who has selected paint colors knows it can be a challenging and overwhelming task. This is why designers tend to have their tried and true colors that they always turn to. Broken into different installments below are the recommendations featured with links to the full stories.

Happy Friday!
