easter tablescape

Emily Oster

Jeff's family is visiting this weekend and we are planning a big family meal for Saturday night. Jeff has his heart set on lamb and I would like to find some spring appropriate veggies at the farmer's market tomorrow. Maybe fresh asparagus? I am also hoping that there might be some early rhubarb so that I can make this delicious cobbler from Seasons & Suppers. I made it last year around this time and it was so yummy I have been dreaming of it ever since.

It looks like it will be nice enough to sit outside at our picnic table and to have a fire going as we eat. I plan to set the table with the family china that got passed down to us for the first time, a tablecloth given to me by my Mom, two porcelain eggs I got in Barcelona and to complete the look - a simple vase of tulips. For me, a beautifully set table is the perfect primer for a delicious meal and in the spring I love a tablescape dominated with pastels and fresh flowers. Sort of like these pictured below.

How cute are those bunny place card holders! Have a great weekend everyone!

ro sham beaux

One of my absolute favorite vendors from High Point was Ro Sham Beaux. I was familiar with their lighting before my trip but seeing the pieces in person made me a huge fan. Based out of Charleston, South Carolina, Ro Sham Beaux is run by founder, owner and lead designer Ann Yancy Rogers. After a successful career working for such major publications as Metropolitan Home, Rogers moved her lighting design group, Y Lighting, to Charleston and founded Ro Sham Beaux in 2010. Almost all of their pieces are customizable with most using glass beads and hemp. They have a very bohemian feel yet they work in many styles of spaces. See below for some of my favorite pieces/images of Ro Sham Beaux

suzani

Emily Oster

We saw a lot of beautiful Suzanis at High Point which has left me coveting one for my own home. Suzanis are a type of embroidered tribal textile made in Central Asia predominately coming from the countries of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. They usually have a cotton base and are embroidered in silk or cotton thread. Often created in two pieces and then sewn together, one vendor told us that a mother and daughter each work on a half and then bring them together for the daughter to take to her new home once she is married. They are pretty trendy right now but I think thats because they are truly beautiful and almost anyone can appreciate the work that goes into them. See below for some favorite inspiration images.
